Hello my name is Robert Maxwell; my family grew up here in Houston in the Cypress Texas area. I am writing in regards to the recent fishing show held at the George R. Brown convention center in Houston. I am an avid fisherman who has a place up in Port O’Conner, Texas. Being a “Lure Fisherman”, I decided to design my own lures. I called them “StuntGrunts” and I made many different types to fit the needs of other avid fishermen in the Gulf Coast area. I designed and built the molds myself in my shop in Cypress. After many mistakes and a lot of hard work, I came up with what I think is a lure that can “perform stunts”.
A couple of years ago, I decided to take some of my Lures to the fishing show at the GRB to test the market and see if any fishermen would “take a bite” of them. Let me tell you what, they did! I was working the booth and was surprised that even professional guides where coming up and wanting to try them. I passed out a few sample Lures and asked that they give me some feedback on their results. Well it was good news! So I went full force and the StuntGrunt Fishing Lure was born in 2008 at the GRB. I cannot quote the exact number of Lures sold, but not only did the guides buy them but the average “Joe the fisherman” did as well. Over 1000 sold! So now, this is where this story continues…

| Hi Robert,
I enjoyed your presentation of your Stunt Grunt Lure. I purchased four of them and am anxious to use them. I have use the Corky for many years and found them to be real productive over mud/shell bottom, but hang-ups do happen. Flounder seem to love to attack them near the bottom so that’s why I like your concept of a floating lure that I can use in the shallows and provide a weight I can add, to allow the lure to sink slowly in deeper areas. I usually fish out of a kayak but also wade in certain areas. I’ll give you a fishing report, hopefully soon when the wind stops blowing 15 to 20 mph.
Thanks, Herman - Waller, TX

| This fish was caught with one of your floating lures (chartruse with red/orange throat) which has # 3 live bait hook up front and a #4 live bait hook in the rear. The lure suspends about 10" below the surface. I hold the rod tip either down in the water or right above the surface. I use a jerk...jerk stop retrieve, delaying about three to five seconds for the lure to slowly sink. Then I repeat the retreive until I have cleared the target area...then I hold the rod below the surface and retreive fast until the lure is about 10' from the boat or from me (wading) and then I stop the lure for about five seconds. It is during this wait that I watch for a fish to flash on the lure. The pictured speckled trout "shadowed" the lure until the final jerk within five or six feet from the boat. She could take no more of this and she pounced on it. 25" and six to seven pounds. The water conditions were low tide and very calm surface. Not the easiest conditions to get a big trout to eat. Must be very quiet for sure. Thanks Robert... your lures are very effective. I have caught many trout using this technique. Mike Graham - Houston, TX
